3 Shots

Feeling confident is your flicking skills?

Time to put your money where your mouth is.

3 Shots

Multiplayer Crokinole, 20 point shots played for stakes, and bragging rights.

SET UP

  • The game requires a tabletop and chairs.

  • 1 x Tournament sized Crokinole board.

  • 24 x Tournament sized Crokinole discs. (12 of each color)

  • Gliss powder, a.k.a. shuffleboard wax. (optional)

  • The game starts as an open field.

  • Each player pulls their disc off the board, (not placed in the gutter)

  • Game play moves clockwise.

  • Play with etiquette, players should remain off/not touching the board when another player is taking their turn.

Number of Players

  • 2 - 8

Objective

  • To be the sole survivor with a disc left in your arsenal.

  • Winner collects the stakes.

Rules

Playing with the dynamics and boundaries of Crokinole, each player wagers to get 3 disc. (color of the discs does not matter)

  • You must be seated. The 1 butt cheek rule applies.

  • This is a flicking game not a pushing game.

  • Players take flicking shots from the back 5 point line.

  • On your turn, flick a disc from the 5 point line. If it lands in the center 20 point circle, you get to keep it for a future turn.

  • All other shots that miss the 20 point circle are kicked to the gutter. Each player will get 3 opportunities to either keep it and continue, or strike out.

  • Alternating turns continue until only one player remains.

Player Variations

  • Stakes can be of any value.

History

  • Crokinole is ~160 year old game out of Canada, that few in the States know about.

  • This game is an absolute jewel for social fun and connection building and belongs in every game friendly bar.

Game Theory / Game Dynamics

  • One of the hardest rules to remember is not leaving or moving your chair. You can perform some interesting chair yoga, but one butt cheek must remain on the stationary seat at all times. In casual play you might get away with it, but in a tournament, it is a penalizing offense.

  • This is a flicking game, not a pushing game. In a matter of playing just a few games, you will see vast improvement in your flicking abilities, and you will know you had fun when the tip of your finger hurts the next day.

  • This game is primed for boasting, and trash talking. It might even instigate a bar fight if the stakes are too high.

  • Anger and tension gets pointed to ones self for making a bad shot. Anybody has the opportunity to make a great shot, but everyone does make a bad shot.

I hope you enjoy playing games,
as much as I have making them.
