Rico’s Game Room

Welcome to Rico’s Game Room

Here you will find the various collections of games that can be played on a bonafide RicoBoard.

**NOTE: I do not sell games, I sell the game boards in which you can play several—if not hundreds—of games on. Pictured above, are just some of the games I have found that can be played on a simple patterned board.

Games are timeless, and for that reason, I chose to categorize them into 3 historical Eras.

Because there are so many games, I further grouped games into distinct collections I refer to as my game ‘shelves.’

Here are the shelves in my vast library.

The Abstract Avalanche

Abstracts are my favorite types of games. Abstracts have certain characteristics that make the genre unique. Abstract games are simple, require skill, strategy, or dexterity, have full transparency, no elements of chance, and no overarching themes. They have the purity of the game itself.

The Bar Arcade Collection

Speaking of Abstract games, consider Billiards, Darts, Jenga, Shuffleboard, and Cornhole commonly found in bars. They all meet the abstract criteria, and it is what makes them work. I plan to introduce some of my games into this arena.

The Code Breakers Academy

Mind benders and mental flossers. Games that involve solution finding. Puzzles are an excellent example of games that deliver satisfaction when and if you solve them for yourself. Any game that test you problem solving skills, or it can be competitive too. Check out games like Battleship, Sniff, Pathfinder or Mastermind as well as my original Fiddlestick Puzzles.

The Sticks & Stones Series

The simplicity of my kind of games it what make them special. You don’t need the Internet, or batteries. All you need is some sticks and stones and a pattern to play most of my games.

With sticks and stones, Man can create fire. With sticks and stones Man can build empires. And with sticks and stones, Man can conquer nations. - Respect their power.

The Tidal Forces Collection

Any game in which Mother Nature can be an equal player. Games that involve gravity, polarity, velocity, inertia, reflection, refraction, centrifugal or other natural forces. Even the pattern shapes of the game board may qualify a game on this shelf. Prisms, hexagons and circles are found in nature, but the square grid is a man made construct and excludes many games from this room.

The Predators Tract

Any game that involve hunting, fishing, seek and destroy, or coordinated attack vectors fall into this category. Chess and Checkers are good examples. Games that can teach pack hunter tactics, have educational value and can offer valuable life lessons in many different military strategy or empirical premises.

Head Games

Games that challenge your emotions. A game could be a play on words, or even a good joke or a pick up line might qualify. (My bio ‘About us’ intro page is a good example.) Any game that involves curiosity, love, negotiations, bargaining, politics, sex, diplomacy, or can just get in your head emotionally fall into this category.

Mystics of the Astrogali

All games that involve chance. Any shuffled cards, hidden tiles, spin of the wheel, random draws, or roll of the bones are games of risk, reward, fate and luck. These type of games often introduce stakes, gambling, lotteries, or races. These are the only types of games you will find in a casino or gambling hall.

Games can also cross pollinate to different shelves.

For example:

Crokinole

appears on the Abstract Avalanche, The Bar Arcade Collection, The Tidal Forces Collection, and Head Games shelves.

Tic Tac Toe

can be found in the Abstract Avalanche, and The Sticks and Stones Series rooms.

The ACME Puzzle

can be found in The Code Breakers Academy, The Tidal Forces Collection x, and the Head Games shelves.
