tazmanian Rodeo

A spinning wild thing multiplier on an unstable Crokinole board for points.

the Tazmanian Rodeo

The spinning wild thing unleashed.

SET UP

  • The game requires a tabletop and chairs.

  • 1 PDGA putter disc face down in the middle of the table.

  • 1 golf ball in the disc.

  • 1 x Tournament sized Crokinole board, centered on the golf ball.

  • 1 Taz Teetotem

  • First player is randomly selected.

  • Game play moves clockwise.

  • Play with etiquette, players should remain off/not touching the board when another player is taking their turn.

Number of Players

  • 2 - 8

Objective

  • To balance the Crokinole board so that the spinning teetotem can manuver thru the pegs to earn a higher score.

  • The first player to earn a cumulative high score of X wins.

Rules

Playing with the mechanics- the scoring system, gutter boundaries and pegged obstacles of Crokinole, each player takes alternating turns to spin the Taz Teetotem from the 5 point line, while balancing the board to favor its direction in an attempt to land in the center space for maximum points.

  • You can be seated. The 1 butt cheek rule is optional.

  • This is a spinning, balance and math skills game, not your traditional Crokinole play.

  • Players spin from the back 5 point line.

  • On your turn, spin the wild thing from the 5 point line, while balancing the board.

  • Play with etiquette, other players should not touch or influence the board while it is another player’s turn.

  • Scoring is as follows.

  • If the Taz Teetotem lands in the gutter, no points are granted.

  • If the Taz Teetotem lands on the ‘one’, ‘two’, or ‘three’ lined symbols within a valid location on the Crokinole board, the position is scored as normal for Crokinole, with the Taz landing results as a multiplier. For example, If the Taz wild thing lands with ‘ three’ face up in the inner pegged circle, it would be worth 45 points. ( 3x15)

  • If the Taz Teetotem lands on the o|||o symbol ( the intergalactic symbol of games) within a valid location on the Crokinole board, the position is scored as normal for Crokinole times 5 as the multiplier.

  • If the Taz Teetotem does not land on one of its 4 designated sides, within a valid location on the Crokinole board, it is worth 4 times the Crokinole score, and the player can spin again for a cumulative score of that turn.

  • Scored points are recorded after each player’s turn and summed for a total running score.

  • The first player to reach a cumulative high score of X wins, after each player has had an equal number of turns.

Player Variations

  • This can be a gambling game for stakes.

History

  • The Tazmanian Rodeo is a Rico original game (2025) from the twisted mind of his alter ego, watching too many Looney Tunes cartoons.

  • This game is an gem for social fun and connection building and belongs in every game friendly bar.

Game Theory / Game Dynamics

  • For this game, I highly recommend moving your food and drinks to another table. This game gets the table moving.

  • This game is contrary to the 1 butt cheek rule. You might decide to stand to play this one.

  • Those damn dastardly pegs make for some ugly obstacles, that have the uncanny ability to kick the the Taz out to the gutter.

  • Spinning the Taz from the back 5 point line is not a hard rule, as long as the initial contact with the board is within the 5 point territory.

  • This game is what happens when the witch doctor decides to mix an abstract classic, with a wild thing randomizer from the Mystics of the Astrogali, to conjure up a new game that plays on the forces or nature.

  • A quality game board is worth its weight when you can play multiple games on it. Think about that before your next family entertainment purchase.

  • A bonafide RicoBoard Crokinole board will have a custom divot on the back side center point, to help keep the stability of the board from rolling off the table.

I hope you enjoy playing games,
as much as I have making them.
